Founded in 2004, KDK raises awareness and funds for charity in the spirit of Mardi Gras. This year's annual ball will be like no other. Headlining are the SambaFunk! Funkquarians from Oakland, CA. The colorful costumes, percussion and dance will blow the roof off Trigger nightclub in the Castro! The VIP reception from 6-7pm features a hosted Stoli bar and hors d'oeuvres, preview of the silent auction and New Orleans style jazz. Hosts get their name in the printed program ($50). General Admission ($20 advance; $25 at the door if available) guests enjoy the Bal Masque show by KDK members and special guests, DJ and dancing, the sashing of the Grand Marshal & Second Line Parade, beads, the crowning of the new King & Queen, the silent auction and SambaFunk! Call off work on Wednesday, put on your finest Mask and Costume, and join us for a Kinky Night on the Town! Tuesday, Feb. 21 6pm to 12am (and beyond!) starting at the Mix bar (18th & Castro Streets) and traveling to Trax on Haight Street, Marlena's in Hayes Valley, Gangway in the Tenderloin, Powerhouse in South of Market & back to Mix bar in the Castro! Join Krewe de Kinque for our ANNUAL FAT TUESDAY bar crawl aboard the KDK PARTY BUS! Tickets are very limited and only $20 in advance from KDK King VII John Weber: noonweb@yahoo.com or (415) 424-6005. Join KDK King VIII Frank Vera & KDK Queen VIII Garza on a WILD RIDE for FAT Tuesday! Get your masks, beads & costumes on and meet us at the super-friendly MIX bar (18th and Castro) from 6-6:45pm. We'll then board the bus and head to the beatnik Haight for a rollicking party at TRAX (7:15pm) where we'll be greeted by fabulous decorations & some N'Awlins food. *(The bus leaves the Mix at 7pm SHARP! Don't be tardy for the party!) Then we're off to Hayes Valley to party at the legendary Marlena's bar around 8pm where we'll put on a little show for ya. We then pour ourselves back onto the party bus and stroll on over to The Gangway at Larkin & Geary (one of the longest-running gay bars on the West Coast!). Then we're off to hot-n-sexy Powerhouse bar in the South of Market 'hood at 11pm. (Good time to make the men "show you something" to earn some beads!) If there's room on the bus, throw a trick over your shoulder and head for the back of the bus! By this time, we've lost passengers to tricks and treats but ... the bus moves on! By midnight we'll be back in the Castro to drop off passengers at Mix then we'll party till the wee hours at Castro bars including the EDGE bar where Krewe de Kinque was founded in 2004! Don't be surprised if someone takes the stage at some of our stops ... and we'll have a few "surprises" on the bus to keep you in good spirits! DON'T drink and drive on this fun night. Plan for cabs, public transit or ride sharing with sober friends.
